BlackBerry Presenter Transmits PowerPoints to Display, Allows Bluetooth Control

BlackBerry Presenter_Back

At the cusp of CES, RIM has announced a new accessory for BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) called the Presenter. This little hub plugs into displays via s-video or VGA (NTSC or PAL) and coupled with a handset application, you can control PowerPoint presentations via Bluetooth. This is a neat little toy for professionals on the move and sounds very familiar to the Impatica ShowMate, but I have a feeling RIM will be able to beat the obscene $250 price point. RIM’s official accessory lineup is looking pretty well-rounded these days, including basic Bluetooth headsets, a car kit, and a home stereo system accessory. This is the first to have some dedicated companion software, and I’m hoping they continue the trend for the next go-around. OS 4.6 and up is required to use the Presenter, but the Curve 8300 and Pearl Flip families are unsupported, for some reason. Head over to www.blackberry.com/presenter for a closer look.
