The BlackBerry Pearl 3G and Android-powered LG Optimus are now available to buy from Vodafone. Read on for more about the tariffs they’re available on.
The LG Optimus is a mid-range Android phone, available for free on tariffs of £20 a month and more. The BlackBerry Pearl 3G is a step or two up the mobile ladder, the lowest tariff it’s available for free on being the £25 a month 300 minutes/Unlimited texts combo.
The BlackBerry Pearl 3G is a rare thing — a BlackBerry that uses a numerical keypad rather than a Qwerty keyboard. This gives the BlackBerry Pearl 3G a more petite frame than big bad BlackBerrys like the BlackBerry Bold 9700, but with Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS on-board, there’s been no scrimping on features.
The LG Optimus is a mid-range Android phone, with a 3.2-megapixel camera and 3-inch touchscreen. £20 a month gets you 100 minutes and 500 texts, along with 500MB data usage. The one downside of the LG Optimus is that it uses the outdated Android 1.6 OS, but one of our favourite phones of 2010 so far, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, did just the same, so it’s not something to dismiss the LG Optimus over.
