RIM Sold 150,000 BlackBerry Torch 9800 Units In Launch Weekend, But It’s Disappointed

The BlackBerry Torch has been launched just a day before the weekend therefore you might be curious to find out how sales went. You should learn the RIM sold more than 150,000 units in the first weekend, which is a good number, however, the company is not satisfied and internal sources claim that the phone maker regards these sales as “very disappointing.”

Apparently, RIM wanted to sell as many units as the iPhone 4, but the company should have thought about that when they put on such a crappy hardware on the smartphone. And what’s more: they should have released the BlackBerry Torch to all four major carriers in the US if they wanted to sell as many units as the iPhone 4.

RIM has manufactured millions of BlackBerry Torch units and there isn’t a single store in the US where the phone is sold out. What’s more, the price has been cut in half in less than a week after launch. I remind you that our Deal of the Day of August 17th consisted of the BlackBerry 9800 itself which is available for only $99.99 at Amazon.

So did RIM actually think that it will sell as many BlackBerry Torch 9800 units as Apple’s iPhone 4? What do you think? Have you bought the Torch? Are you satisfied with your purchase?
